To improve the town's image, Springfield uses one of Marge's ideas and holds a film festival. Bart goes to the hospital to get his appendix removed and while there Lisa meets "Bleeding Gums" Murphy again. Marge's lecture gets to Bart who begins to take pride in his community when the neighboring town takes Springfield's lemon tree. Oil is discovered at the grade school and Burns won't stand for it. So he steals the oil, angers the town, and then throws them into perpetual darkness. Mr. Burns is shot, but who did it.
