The twelve members of the Jedi Council, the highest authority of the Jedi order, meet in the central spire above the Temple. There they meditate, ponder the fluctuations of the Force, and test new recruits. They also plan and review the activities of their far-traveling Jedi Knights, who have been the guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy for thousands of years. The Council Chamber opens onto a large balcony that offers a majestic view of the city. The balcony also provides privacy when delicate or private matters must be discussed between certain members of the Council.
