Synopsis:

On arriving at a planet the he had surveyed thirteen years before Kirk is shocked to discover that the villagers and the hill people are at war.   He must find a way to restore the balance and remove the catalyst that has caused a peaceful planet to turn into a battlezone.

This episode introduces, all too briefly, the Mugato.   Its attack on Kirk leads to the woman of the week encounter.  And, once again, we see the Klingons portrayed as sneaking, conniving, war mongerers.   This episode would have worked better, in retrospect, if it had been the Romulans.  Still it is an interesting show and it raises some interesting debates.   Did Kirk do the right thing?  Did he violate the Prime Directive?   Could he have accomplished the same thing some other way?   Well you watch the episode and decide these for yourself.
