Synopsis:

The Enterprise gets two distress calls, one from Dr. Ira Graves' assistant claiming that he is very sick, and another from the USS Constantinople which has suffered a hull breach. Sending down Counselor Troi, Commander Data, Lieutenant Worf and Dr. Selar, the Enterprise speeds off to help the Constantinople. Dr. Selar diagnosises Dr. Graves with Darnay's Syndrome and declares that he will die soon. Graves takes Data into his office and shows him his experiment. Now being a noted cyberneticist, Graves has found a way to put a human's consciousness into a neural net, like the one in Data. He incapacitates Data and puts his consciousness into him before he dies. Without knowing it, the away team beams back to the Enterprise with Dr. Graves' corpse, but a very much alive Dr. Graves in Data. When Data starts acting strangely, the crew soon finds what Dr. Graves did and puts Graves' consciousness into a secure file into the Enterprise's computer.
