Synopsis:

The Enterprise receives a distress call from the Enterprise's sister ship, the USS Yamato which is having power failures inside the Romulan Neutral Zone. The Enterprise rushes to help the Yamato and finds that Capt. Donald Varley went into the Neutral Zone to solve the mystery about the Iconians. Capt. Picard thinks that the risk of going into the Neutral Zone for an archaeological find was a little high, but Capt. Varley gets to the archaeologist in Picard. All of a sudden the Yamato explodes from an antimatter containment loss. Capt. Picard has Geordi and half of the crew of the Enterprise turning the ship inside out making sure that it is not a Galaxy class desing flaw. All of a sudden, the Enterprise starts having the same failures as the Yamato did. The Enterprise soon arrives at Iconia where a Romulan Warbird decloaks. Some kind of probe is lauched from the surface of the planet that scans the ship. With Captain Picard, Data, and Worf on the surface invesitgating the Iconians strange gateway technology, Commander Riker must keep the Romulans at bay. But the Romulans start having the same problems as the Enterprise. It is soon found that the probes are some Iconian computer weapons which send a virus through to a ship's computer and make the ship go awry until it finally finds that command to self-destruct. Capt. Picard fond a way to stop the launching of the probes by destroying the gateway. The Enterprise and the Romulans ship are safe and head on their merry way, a new archaeological find now found.
