DEEP SPACE NINE finally defines itself and the show that has emerged is as philosophically compelling as any show on television today in an episode in which a Bajoran spiritual leader vying to become Kai, rallies the Bajoran occupants of the station against Keiko's secular teachings. Ironically, the new series achieves a level of sophistication and social relevance which the original show prided itself on, but only broadly displayed.
