History:

This is the ship featured in Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan as the USS Reliant. This ship has also been remodeled many times to be other ships, most notably the ill fated USS Saratoga from Deep Space Nine. There are three main types of this class. There is the first class with the photon pod, another with no photon pod and is mostly used for cargo missions, and the type III Miranda class like the USS Saratoga. The type III Miranda class is the only one not shown on this page.
