History:

The Defiant's history starts in 2365 when the starship Enterprise-D encountered the Borg in System J-25. Starfleet wanted a ship that was heavily armed and rwady for battle. However, the Borg threat became less urgent and thr project was stopped. It was reopened, however in 2371 when the Dominion threat became large. Commander Benjamin Sisko took the Defiant into the Gamma Quadrant to invesitgate the Founders. During its mission, it took on three Jem'Hadar attack ships and destroyed one with only one phaser barrage. With the success of the modified Defiant Class ships, Starfleet built two more in record time: 18 months. The two new ships, the Monitor and the Valiant now proudly serve the fleet and have been in the front lines of the Dominion War. However, none of them will live up to the reputation of the first, great ship called Defiant. (Defiant class of course.) the Defiant actually got to do what it was designed for: fight the Borg. In the Sector 001 incident of late 2373, it helped defend Earth against the Borg. And boy did it giv the Borg a run for its money!
