They are, in essence, a super shuttle. They have outstanding computers for ships their size, and weapons that can take on a Maquid Raider. Runabouts are used for long range trips that cannot usually be used with shuttlecraft. Runabouts are found in abundance on space stations, but starships do carry them. A Galaxy Class starship carries a maximum of three runabouts.
