Green bean

Green beans, also known as string or snap beans, is a variety of bean in which the pod is edible, it is of the species Phaseolus vulgaris. They are generally bred so that the pod has more mass and more nutritional value than the bean itself, so that in dietary terms they are considered vegetables rather than seeds.

Most American grocery stores sell green beans frozen and canned. An Italian style of green bean is also widely available.
