Carrot pudding

According to the 1881 Household Cyclopedia, Carrot pudding can be made in the following way.
Take 1/4 peck of carrots, boil and mash them well; then add 1/2 pound flour, 1/2 pound currants, 1/2 pound raisins, 1/2 pound suet chopped fine, 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoonful of cinnamon, 1 teaspoonful of allspice. Boil four hours, and serve hot with sauce flavored with Madeira wine.
